New shows this fall

August 21st, 2006 by Administrator | Filed under News.

There are a couple of new TV shows coming out that I think could be great.

The Nine – The show revolves around a hostage situation and the aftermath.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – The show revolves around a late night sketch comedy show that undergoes a change in producers and the aftermath.

Kidnapped – The show deals with a rich kid’s abduction and its aftermath.

Jericho – The show revolves around a small town that was spared during a nuclear “situation” and its aftermath.

Traveler – The show revolves around a couple of friends who are involved in a museum bombing and its aftermath.

Friday Night Lights – The show deals with a small Texas town’s obsession with high school football and its aftermath (OK, that didn’t make much sense, but I was on a roll)

What shows are you looking forward to?

You aren’t looking forward to ‘Heroes’?

It is something that I will probably watch anyway. I thought that the pilot reminded me a lot of the first few issues of Rising Stars. There were parts that I thought were a little slow moving, but that was probably just how I was feeling that day.

The ones that I mentioned in the post ALL look good and they all had me wanting more when all was said and done.

You saw all these pilots already?

And if it reminded you of ‘Rising Stars’, isn’t that a good thing?

Rising Stars started out very good, but towards the end, the artwork wasn’t good, the story seemed rushed and I’m not really sure what the whole purpose of some of the stuff was. There were a bunch of spinoff minis that I had no desire to read.

But those first few issues (pretty much all of the first trade) were excellent.

The only pilot I haven’t seen yet is for Friday Night Lights, but I recently saw the movie and I’m a fan of Kyle Chandler’s work.

Heroes, Kidnapped, Day Break, The Nine, all look decent from what little I have read of them, Smith looks iffy but, I’m a guy and it’s about heists so what’s not to like. The Dresden Files based on the books, on SCIFI might be decent too. There is this one show that keeps getting advertised called The Lost Room, I guess it’s gonna be a miniseries on SCIFI, it looks very eerie. Kyle Chandler that’s the Early Edition guy isn’t it.

Heroes! NBC starting September 25. I saw the uncut 72 minute pilot at Comic-Con and it’s AWESOME. I highly recommend it!

NIck, Kyle Chandler was from Early Edition. He was also on a show called Homefront a long time ago and most recently he was the bomb squad guy on Grey’s Anatomy.

Also, I forgot about the new James Woods show Shark. It’s a lawyer show, but Woods was great in the pilot. The writing was just OK, but it was good enough for me to want to see where they take it.
