I made a HUGE mistake when recording this show. I called it Deliberate Noise No. 6, which is almost understandable because yesterday I re-recorded Deliberate Noise No. 6 and it was still on my mind, but I apologize for the start of the show. Also at about the halfway point, I was interrupted by the love of my life and had to pause the show.

Comic Book Noise No. 5 is online

Welcome to Comic Book Noise No. 5 featuring nothing but me talking about a box of graphic novels that I recently re-found. Most people might find it boring, but I was really jazzed to find a lot of things that I thought were gone forever.

I have also found a few other special things and I thought I’d share them with you.

Here is my copy of New Teen Titans No. 1, it’s not in great condition but it’s readable.

Here’s a scan of the only piece of original art that I own, a color guide by Anthony Tollin from an old Justice League of America comic.

Here is a copy of Star Spangled War 151, the first appearance of Unknown Soldier.

EDIT: There is some kind of anomaly and the first 45 seconds might be messed up. The ending of the file sounds clipped, but after a while it starts back up. That was NOT planned. Sorry, I’ll make sure that I do better next show.

GREAT News and other stuff

I’m not sure if I mentioned it on the podcast, but I am missing a portion of my comic collection, including my Miracleman, Scout, Peter David/Erik Larsen Aquaman, Paul Kupperberg/Grant Morrison Doom Patrol and others. Well yesterday I sent my little brother over to my ex brother-in-law’s house to get some of my stuff. I was expecting some video tapes, cassette tapes, and the rest of my record collection. He told me that there were also “a couple of boxes of comic books.” I’m holding out hope that some of my good stuff is there.

The story gets better because I talked to my mom and she says that there are at least four LONG boxes and three short boxes. That’s easily another 1000 comics to add to the database. This is going to do nothing but make the Random Comic Review a lot more interesting. When I get them inventoried and entered into the database I’ll let everyone know what kind of stuff I find.

Right now, the October contest for the Batman Forever VHS has been a HUGE bust and as I have a total of 0 {zero} entries. The next contest will have a much better prize.

I will probably be making the Creator Profile a separate special series of podcasts (still in the same feed though) because I got a very interesting piece of feedback that made me realize that I was giving the Creators mentioned in the Profiles the short shrift. I will be putting a lot more effort into them instead of just reciting events and dates. That brings up a couple of questions: 1) What kind of things would you like to see covered in the Creator Profiles and 2) should I re-do the ones that I have already done before moving on to new ones?

Let me know what you think. If there is a small publisher out there who wants to send me some stuff to review, I will be happy to take a look at it. Just like with the Deliberate Noise show, I am always open to find out about new things and share them with others.

Sorry about how my voice sounded at points. Almost as soon as I started the show, my asthma started to flare up. If you listen very closely, you can actually hear me wheezing. Next time, I’ll use my inhaler before I start. Continue reading Comic Book Noise No. 1 is now online

Welcome to Comic Book Noise

Welcome to Comic Book Noise. This site is a blog, but it is also going to (hopefully) be like shownotes on steroids. It will be the show notes for a podcast called Deliberate Noise Special Editions ( Deliberate Noise is a weekly music podcast featuring independent and podsafe music. Originally there were going to be different types of Deliberate Noise (the music show, Comic Book Noise, Video Games Noise, Movie Noise, Music Noise, DVD Releases Noise and TV Noise).

However, I decided to just go with the music show and call everything else a Special Edition (for example, Deliberate Noise Comic Book Edition). At the same time I split the RSS Feeds so that there was the Deliberate Noise feed and the Deliberate Noise Special Editions feed. These will stay the way they are. I have decided to rename the Deliberate Noise Comic Book editions and call it the original name-Comic Book Noise.

I have picked the domain name and pretty soon I will have the podcast show notes pointing to this site.
